  About the artwork:

I consider these "Sculptural Paintings"  or Sculptural Wall Reliefs to be multi-media paintings on a sculptural substrate.

The primary substrate for the paintings consists of textural cotton canvas stretched over a lightweight plywood form.

Shaped wooden elements are attached to the canvas substrate after they and the background have been painted.

The painted designs on both the canvas and the attached elements consist of opaque priming and under-painting and multiple layers of translucent and transparent glazes, often metallic or pearlescent.

The desired effect is to present constantly changing color and value as the viewing angle and the lighting angle change.

This is best appreciated when the painting is displayed in a location where it is lighted obliquely as well as from above.
